Hypermobility disorders are very common within the pole and aerial community. We estimate one in three pole dancers are hypermobile - yes, that many! This is a BIG topic but a vital one to understand for pole and for our general health.
๐ Do you suspect or know you're a hypermobile poler (or aerialist)?
๐ Do you want to learn how to work WITH your hypermobile body to improve at pole, have longevity in your craft and prioritise your health at the same time?
๐ Or are you a pole instructor or health care professional wanting to learn how to recognise, best care for and cue the hypermobile population?
Come join us as we highlight everything you need to know about hypermobility for the pole and aerial community with our 3 part workshop.
We will talk you through the diagnostic process, identify the challenges faced within this population and show you how to create musculoskeletal resilience in a hypermobile body. Knowledge on hypermobility has exploded in recent years, and itโs often overwhelming! Join us as we chat through from basics to side tangents, untangling this topic so itโs easier to navigate and you leave feeling empowered!
This online workshop will be jam-packed covering:
- Overview of hypermobility and the hypermobility spectrum, including EDS - what is it, why does it matter, is every hypermobile person the same, and how do you get diagnosed?
- Symptoms, diagnoses & conditions that can come with hypermobility, including POTS, MCAS, neurodivergence + more! - Yes, all those quirks and problems no one could explain (we know youโre not crazy or making it up!)
- Unpacking hypermobility myths - Are we really fragile? Should we avoid stretching? Will we be in pain forever? Are all hypermobile people flexible? And many more!
- Training with hypermobility - Why you might be in pain or struggling to progress, and what to do about it.
- Why and how to work on proprioceptive awareness, active (muscular) stability), the nervous system and progressive loading of exercises for your pole goals.
- Our favourite hypermobility hacks - no spoilers, but there are some goodies!
- Essential tips for performance, teaching, and healthcare
- Best resources for the hypermobile pole dancer, for when you ask โwhatโs next?โ
